Thank you for that information. I hadn't thought about that pass being closed. We have driven when it was very windy and also another time with very dense fog. Oddly enough everybody was driving sensibly at a consistent speed and with lights on. Without GPS, I wouldn't have had a clue where I was since you couldn't see the overhead signs until right underneath them.

We have stopped at Meteor Crater during winter before and stayed at the RV park there. There was some snow on the ground which makes it look even better.

In the middle November, there will be less chance of storms closing the roads, but not impossible. At Christmas time I know even I10 has been closed between El Paso and Deming a couple of times.
