Trolls And More

La Times
The above article is typical of the news in recent weeks concerning Michoacán. RV'rs are never in these stories but to not be aware of what is happening is a head in the sand approach. Experienced Mexico travelers should try and understand that those who have never been to Mexico do not see Mexico the way we do. Por ejemplo: While I was typing this post CNN did a story on a young man missing in Mexico. I missed the whole story but apparently he was in a dangerous area. When anyone sees all these stories can you blame them for being concerned? Go to any snowbird park say in AZ and tell them you are on your way to Mexico and you will get that look. "Are you nuts. You will be killed" So BrianSue and others are fighting a losing battle. Mexico has always had a bad rep and the violence just reinforces that perception. Do you really think that the doubters will read a post from an anonymous person and believe it when the media displays the opposite? It almost becomes a "thou doth protest too much" moment. They think you are "full--------- it). Tequila has an ulterior motive as he is involved in commercial caravans so he is immediately discredited. Others should not respond to any of those negative posts whether the posters are trolls or not. Just ignore it. You are peeing in the wind. I will add that the violence in Michaocan is serious. It takes place on the 4 lane highways. One of those goes from the coast to Uruapan. A route that we have used in the past before it was a complete 4 lane. No, RV'rs are not nor have ever been a target but others who see the stories of violence do not care. That violence has spilled over to states that border Michoacán and some Oxxos have been targets. Ignore the trolls and they will go away.
