I have been posting on a couple other threads about this same topic. I have been emailing SAT and Aduana and getting daily responses - many responses from SAT but still no definitive answer.
If they did show you the law do you know for sure what it said - did you get a title of the law - a number - specific wording? I am going over all of this with SAT. I have found many laws.
In at least some cases the problem seems to be interpretation of the law. Some border people look at the GVWR of the vehicle and then apply a law that applies to cargo carrying capacity which even by Mexico definition is not the same. The law applies to weight and the cargo capacity is 7,716 lbs. The border people look at the GVWR on the door frame and use that number as cargo capacity and if it exceeds 7,716 lbs they say it is not legal in Mexico. If this is a concern you might try to figure out what is going on with my posts on the other threads - but it is very involved and complicated and boring.
As far as the other negative posts on this thread - the topic is truck campers in Mexico and has nothing to do with all the idiotic opinions some people have about Mexico. I would think the moderator would delete these types of off topic comments.
