We've rolled into a number of provincial parks and national parks in Canada where bear warnings were posted (and seen a few bear traps ready to go!). We haven't found the need to carry any protection, we just were more vigilant of our surroundings.

We actually watched some campers in Algonquin PP chase a young bear through one of the campgrounds (we felt sorry for the little guy!)
