We just got back from Banff and Jasper. Bears in early July too. Most people that pay more attention to their surroundings are fine. At Lake Louise CG, they have an electric fence around the area for tent and soft side units. If you must, wear bear bells, and purchase bear spray for an emergency. Buy this after you get to Alberta.
