I am not trying to argue with anyone and I do not claim to know anything. I am only bringing up and references information I have found online.
The articles I read - for which I put links on this forum - state that the work is being done. The articles mention the projects and the contractors who are doing the work. I even went to the contractors websites and saw where they show what is being done on these projects. I have no idea. I haven't been there. I have driven by some places but I do not know.
The only pipelines I know about are being built in Texas. I saw workers in Van Horn, TX and they told me there were two pipelines and that they are going to Mexico. I have no idea. I only know what I was told. I do not know if they will carry crude or whatever.
The article about Gulf going into Mexico clearly says they are buying Pemex stations and turning them into Gulf stations. They are not building infrastructure - they are buying existing infrastructure. They say they already have stations in Mexico City.
I have no idea about any of this. And I certainly don't know why they are doing it. I have never understood the investment so many are making in building new Pemex stations all over Mexico. Each year we drive past stations that are being built and months later or even years later these stations are not open yet due to whatever reasons - perhaps government permits. But why would they be doing all this investing if there wasn't money to be made? I can't make any sense of it - and I do not suggest it makes sense or has to make sense. But we do see so many new stations being built and have to wonder why.
I think there are many sides to a lot of stories. Logic does not always apply. The first time I drove through Mexico the standard rule was to buy fuel any time you saw a station - they were few and far between. Today it seems you don't go more than a few miles before you see another brand new Pemex station. Sometimes there are a lot of them in a very small area.
The G500 I mention is not the only consortium of station owners. There are other groups. Whoever these people are (maybe they are complete dummies) they are investing heavily in new stations everywhere we go. Is there a reason?
And back to the refinery improvements or whatever. As I said - the article talks about the various projects and it mentions the names of the companies who have the contracts to do the upgrades. Looking on these companies websites I have found they mention these projects as well. But then these other articles say no money is being put in and nothing is being done. So is there any truth in there anywhere?
