Dude not to de rail your trip but I totally think you'd have a better trip of a lifetime if you flew up there, got a RV for a few weeks and did your thing.
I lived up there for a year and a half and didn't get to see near what we wanted to.
Think this way.
No capital expenditure for a new used rig.
No worry about 10000 miles of driving, breakdowns, etc.
ain't going to see anything driving 500 mi a day anyway heading up and back.
Spent a week from Seattle to ANC camping our way up there and could have spent 2 or 3.
I love to drive and HATE not having my own vehicle/stuff, almost to a fault but if I had that distance to travel and limited time I'd be reserving a RV and some plane tickets.
Youre not even leaving enough time for each kids excursion, cause each one could be a day or 2 drive to get to.
Think 1 day travel, well rested, pick up the camper, hit Wally World for some food n bug spray and be fishing in 1-3 hours, or roll into town totally spent, no need for bug spray since you're bug eyed from staring at the yellow line for the last 2 weeks. 2 flat spares on the roof that need repaired. Fridge crapped out in the rv somewhere in Manitoba and already need to find a laundry mat!
Lol
