. Once we hit Canada, we will restrict travel to during daylight only and hope to knock out 600+ miles per day until we get to Dawson Creek.
What I have found is that in Canada or on the Alcan or most places except travel on the interstate is that planning at circa 55 mph is a good figure to use for the entire period of travel in a day (i.e. leave the house and 10 hours later park for the night means 550 miles) when accounting for all stops, etc. Probably can be beat, but in Canada, I expect that 600 miles will take about 12 hours of being on the road; not just driving time, but being on the road.
With all of that being said, when I was trying to make time, and didn't need to worry about border crossing hours or similar, what I found anywhere between Los Anchorage and the L48 (whether Alaska roads, Alcan, Canadian roads) was that more miles were covered for any given period of night driving than for that same period during the day.
That paradigm doesn't apply that much during the middle of winter, but any other time, not having to deal with traffic (including RV's :) ) worked out to be much more efficient travel.
....again, that's only if covering the most miles is the criteria.
