We travel from central MA several times a year to our daughter's on the Outer Banks. We take 84 to 87S, Garden State, 95S, after the Delaware Memorial Bridge, 13S. After Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, follow signage to 168S, which will take you to OBX. The routes suggested above are good, but dealing with 95 through NJ is not bad, and the route down the DelMarva Peninsula is nice. This is also much shorter, since you are starting in Albany.
