It's our favorite way into NM and CO and points west. Great 4 lane road, mostly empty of traffic. The occasional towns don't slow you down all that much. The only thing it needs are more RV Campgrounds, there don't seem to be many. And the few state parks are well off the highway.
We have stayed at Copper Breaks which is a nice SP. And on our way to the back door to Palo Duro we stopped at Caprocks SP only to find that you cannot pull your trailer/5ver all the way thru the park. It looks like a better stop than Copper Breaks from what I saw of it. That back door to Palo Duro was darned hard to find BTW.
