US 84 New Mexico

I am looking for information on the condition of US 84 in New Mexico connecting I 40 and I 25.

  • My map shows 84 between I 40 and I 25 and extends beyond both.

Yes, indeed. US 84 N turns off from I-40 just west of Santa Rosa, NM and joins I-25 just south of Las Vegas, NM. So it definitely connects I-40 in the south to I-25 in the north.

US 285 also connects I-40 and I-25 further west--from Clines Corner to near Santa Fe.

Either one will work depending on where you are going.

I think you are looking at 285 that continues out of Santa Fe. Just checked the map and see it runs with I25 and south near Santa Rosa. After looking I have run 84 south from there to Mule Shoe TX down to Abilene. Guess CRS has stuck, can't remember sh*t.;)

We just drove it this past July for the first time with a couple other motorhomes and found it a great route and road to travel
Would go over it again if out that way...C

I run that route regularly 84 to visit relatives in CO. 84 does not go to I40, it connects to I25 and you go south to 40. Where are you starting & going, I live in NM for 20 year+

  • I probably should not answer for the reason that it has been several years since we have made this route, but we have made it several times and I do not recall any problem whatsoever. It is for the most part (maybe entirely) a two lane road and mostly flat.

In more recent years we have gone up US 285 because Santa Fe was our destination.

I hope others with more recent experience will add to or correct my post.
