+1 for the I-86 route. Most of it is good road now. It cost me $20 for the NYS Thruway toll from Rochester to the Mass Pike a few weeks back, I can't imagine the toll from Ripley.
Was that just for 2 axles? I drove the motorhome and toad (4 axles) from Buffalo to the Mass line several years ago and it was nearly $50.
Dave I checked online. From Buffalo to Mass line is now $69 for 4 axles.
Except if you have a NY ezpass and obtain the motor home exemption. You then pay the Automobile rate
"Thruway Motor Home Discount Plan***: Proof of motor home registration is required to receive the special motor home discount. Motor homes will receive the passenger vehicle rate based on the number of axles on the motor home. Plan Code: (MHM)
*** Proof of vehicle registration is required to receive the special discount rate."
I have spent part of today trying to figure this motor home discount out. I even called EZ-Pass but they weren't much help. I want to set up a new EZ-Pass account as I don't have one.
I have a dually pickup and 5th wheel. On the phone they told me I need 2 tags - one when towing and one when not towing. As far as I can tell the online application doesn't allow me to set up an account for a dually over 7,000 pounds gross weight (I know the truck is more than 7.000). And then to request a second tag. And then the motor home discount - is it applicable to trailers?
Thanks for any insight.
