Utah Highway 12 Panorama

Often there are questions about UT 12 and its suitability for rigs. I found a panorama that shows how the road is right along a ridge with canyons on either side. Click here. Interesting perspective.

  • Great picture showing the horrible 'drop-offs'. It's a gorgeous, safe drive. You won't be doing interstate speeds but everyone on it drives slow to take in the scenery.
  • We drove this in our TC. Truly amazing. We pulled over--over and over and over again.
  • People drive 100,000 miles on roads that don't have guard rails without a problem. Then they get to that half mile section and they panic.
  • it's one of the foremost scenic drives in the country, if not the world.
I suggest taking a picnic lunch and stopping at the Anasazi Museum in Boulder. There are a couple picnic benches out front under shady trees.
  • One of the most spectacular drives that we've taken. The most difficult part was keeping eyes on the road and not the amazing scenery.

We traveled from Bryce to Hanksville pulling a 30 bumper pull.
  • That section is only 1/2 mile long and is nothing compared to 550 in Colorado(which I didn't tow and was scary). It's over before you know it. I pulled my rig the entire length of route 12 and it was the most spectacular scenery I have ever experienced. Can't wait to do it again. There are some good grades, but the road is good and the traffic is light and the steepest grades are short. Truck downshifted all the way to 1st gear on a 12% grade section. Not for the faint of heart but not scary either. If you don't want to tow it, just drive it.
  • We drove this road in September in our RV with tow car - lots of RV's of all sizes and descriptions on the road. It is really spectacular but not for the faint of heart.
The scenery cannot be described. Videos do not give the true perspective of the grades on the uphills & downs. The engine brake sure got a lot of use.

Thanks for posting this - nice to view it again.
