Vancouver BC to Mesa

Just wondering if there are fellow snowbirds out there that travel south that have a favourite route from Vancouver to Mesa. Just looking for a route to get there; no sightseeing intended. We expect to take 5 or 6 days for the trip.
All opinions are gratefully accepted.
  • Traveling in December,, Watch the weather. Salt Lake gets lots of snow. But so does Shasta Ca.
  • Oh yeah! We are travelling from December 5 to about the 10th. I guess the first 3 days are the important ones as far as inclement weather is concerned.
    Thanks again.
  • Thank you all for your input. I forgot to mention that we are towing a fifth wheel, so if anyone has specific routes that are best, or best to avoid, I would really appreciate your continued assistance.

  • I'd take I 90 to I 84 and then catch Hwy 93 thru Nevada. It was a pretty trip. We stayed at Pendleton, Twin Falls, Ely, and Henderson.
I would take chains though but that route bypasses most of the big city traffic. You'll still have Seattle to worry about and Boise had a lot of construction when we went through, and Las Vegas was a nightmare by we went thru at rush hour. We went in November
    Happy travels
  • I 5 to Sacremento . 99 to Bakersfield. I 8 to Pheonix. We do this every year.
  • I-5 South, to 405 to 90 east to I-82 south to I-84 to 15 south.
  • Depends when you want to go. I-5 to LA then east on I-10 might be the best bet in the winter months, the mountain passes can be hairy. Otherwise I would suggest I-90 or I-84 east then south.
