The 72 hour rule no longer applies. You need a visa period!!! But for short visits the FMM is free. BUT it is required. San Carlos is not in a free zone. It is the no hassle zone. However although cars and pickups do not need a TIP rv's are different. We have a MH that never goes beyond the no hassle zone. It has a 10 year permit. Our last MH also had the 10 year permit. Cars and trucks towing some items also need the TIP. I have never brought a TT to Mexico but am almost positive it also needs a TIP. Somewhere in this forum there was a complete explanation. The sticky is outdated. I would be more worried about the TIP than the FMM. If a TIP is required and you get stopped by any of the hacienda agencies your vehicle will be impounded and never returned. Happens frequently to people who travel for a day trip to the Cananea area from AZ. They are usually Mexicans from the USA and get off the highway to visit a village. In just a few miles you are out of the No hassle Zone and the agents are ready to pounce on some poor guy!
