Walla Walla to Lakeview OR on 395
We will be leaving Walla Walla, WA on the 30th down to Lakeview, OR with an overnight in John Day. Anyone familiar with 395 on that route?

395 is a beautiful drive. Walla Walla to Pendelton is fairly flat. You have a climb out of the Columbia basin through the Blue Mountains and down to the John Day valley. Stop at the Kam Wa Chang pharmacy in John Day. South of John Day you have another moderate climb and decent to Burns. From there its fairly flat easy drive to Alturus,CA. If you need a stop overnight, be sure to check out Goose Lake State Park on the OR/CA border. This year its mostly dry because of lack of snow pack, but a beautiful park none the less.
As an alternative, I would suggest 97 south to LaPinen and SE on 31 to 395 just north of Lakeview. Another very interesting drive.
