You probably won't find Rt 9 to be an enjoyable ride, congestion, traffic lights, etc. As long as you're not traveling during rush hour, I'd stick with the Garden State Parkway. And yes, trailers can use the Garden State Parkway, but stay away from parkways in NY and CT.
