west bound across Indianapolis, best direction bypass?

Will be West bound on I-70 tooward Indianapolis. What is best route around when headed out I-70 west bound on other side. Guessing cutting straight across city not that good on a week day. Any sugges...

Just try not hit us around 5PM and you should be fine going straight thru on 70. If you need fuel there is a Flying J just off I-465 on the south side @ the Indiana 37 exit, that is exit #4. If there is an accident on 70 thru town - take 465 south around. It is MUCH shorter than the northern route.
