That'll be Sprout Lake, Paulj! :)
Avast Matey,
You need to develop a Scottish Accent ,because it is Sproat Lake! Not Sprout!
I live on Stirling Arm which sometimes gets misspelled as Sterling!
In any event it is one of the Cleanest Lakes to be found on this Planet and definitely the best place to Camp while Visiting Tofino or Ucluelet!
Pronounced Toe Feen Oh. And You Clue Let! - pauljExplorer IIThose long narrow lakes in BC are all the same.:) But now that you mention it, there is quite a distance between Sproat on Vancouver Island and Slocan in the the Kootenays.
- 3LittleDucksExplorerJust back from the Tofino! Will post a full campground update for our route, but we hauled our 21HTT over without problems. It is twisty and takes about 3 hrs. We camped at Crystal Cove, was perfect for us as we were meeting relatives who rented a cabin (not that we needed cabin ammenities but it was nice to be at the same resort). It has direct access to MacKenzie beach (as do a few other resorts), terrific beach and much safer to wade/swim in then long beach. Tofino has a great co-op grocery store, and we had yummy 'fast' food at tacofino and wildside grill, both very close by.
- SideHillSoupExplorerI was wondering about the new location of Slocan Lake, cause I dove past to yesterday and it was still where it always was in the past!
Thought maybe the Big Quake happened and I missed it!

Soup....... - pauljExplorer IIThanks for the correction. I suspected there was something wrong, but didn't take the time to check the parks website or map. Last time I was through the area was about 8 yrs ago, and I was working my way south from Comox to the outer coast at Bamfield.

Torquart Bay is like..one of the niceest, prettiest, bestest spots ever. Plus, if you are able to pry out the info, there is an oyster bed to die for just around a corner.
It`s 16 k`s of rough-ishy road, so just sit back and crawl in.

You are welcome.

Yes, Torquart Bay is a nice spot, but unfortunately, it has been closed for a few years. Pollution from the mining operations apparently.

- pauljExplorer IIWith a big rig you might want to camp at Slocan Lake, just beyond Port Alberni, and take the toad/tow the rest of the way. That park has both the typical BCPP loop(s) and a side-by-side big rig parking lot. You can walk down to the lake shore and gawk a vessel bigger than your own (the fire bomber seaplanes).
- garyhauptExplorerI have removed the info I had posted about Torquart Bay. A poster has informed me/us that due to pollution, that campground is closed.
