Westward through St. Louis

Coming from KY westward on I-64. I want to end up driving west on I-70 towards Kansas City. Map looks like when I get close to the Mississippi River, I can continue directly onto I-70...or take a short section of I-55 across the river to continue on I-64, connecting with I-70 west of St. Louis. Which route is easier? Of course, I'll try to avoid rush hours.

  • Neither of those choices is really good.

I MUCH prefer taking I-255 north to I-270, thus bypassing downtown completely.

Yes it is farther but should be much less stressful.
  • Going the other way, 270 to 255 was the preferred route. I think the GPS was set for fastest route, and I was in Eureka of I-44.

I-70 is reported to be rather boring. US50 parallels and is a bit more interesting.
  • When I was living in Tennessee up until last year I was taking the Stan Musial Bridge route using exit 3B from I-64 right onto I-70 to St Peters. Seems to flow better for me than the other route using 55.
