After you shop at Burlington Costco, take Cook Rd east to Sedro-Wooley and then Highway #9 north, pretty drive and you will miss the whole traffic mess of the Guide Meridian way in Bellingham. and it will bring you up to Sumas and the better crossing.
Cook Rd is exit 232 about 4 miles north of George Hopper Rd (Costco exit) in Burlington, this will take you to Highway 9 north. 9 is a secondary highway but good road, stay the speed limit, there are a couple sharp corners but nothing to worry about, so enjoy the scenery. This is kinda the back way to Canada and the way we go.
