You many carry any amount of cash with you that you desire to carry. That includes $10,000 cash, $100,000 cash or $100,000,000 cash. Any amount of cash is acceptable to carry back into or out of the US. The only requirement is to declare the total amount of cash you are intending to cross the border with. Very simple, declare the cash. Fill out a simple IRS form and proceed with your journey. The form takes about two minutes to complete. Hundreds of these simple forms are completed every day by travelers who choose to travel with large amounts of cash.
