I stayed in Skagway last year over the 4th of July weekend. Arrived without any reservations and was able to get a spot at Garden City if I recall. Seemed to me there were only three RV parks in town and all had small spaces and were pretty cramped. A rock slide on the hiway in Canada had all road access blocked for a few days and left some of us scrambling for alternate camp sites. Luckily the people who had reservations for my spot couldn't get in on the hiway so I was able to stay where I was. However I was told that there was a an area not far from town that was available for dry camping and it was rarely filled up.
