When buying health insuarnce for travel....first payer?

The article was making the point..that we have limited funds available thru our usual health $ providers. Certainly the case with Blue Cross. Buying travel insurance thru that same provider insulates us from the first/last pay situation. Most of us shop using the cost as the main criteria. This just adds more information to the equation.

Article makes sense to me. In all of my claims, the travel insurance provider has paid my claims and then recovered what they can from my first payer (in my case Alberta Health Care IP.....I have no other coverage). This is normal insurance coverage procedure. Its part of "spreading the risk".
