Where to camp Saltillo?

Should be crossing at Columbia on Thursday. Don't have the Church Book handy. Looking for a place to stop at Saltillo. The old Hotel Imperial (or something) I believe has built a building in their lot, so I'm not sure we can get in and really don't like their almost downtown location. There was another place on the south side of town that was just a fenced lot. What are my choices? We would go down toward Matehuela, but I'm recovering from back surgery and long days are really tough. Boondocking is an option, but where?
  • If you have no special reason to stop in Saltillo you could also cut off on the 57D before Saltillo and go straight to Matehuala and las Palmas Midway Inn. They have water, power and sewer. See blog link in my previous post.
  • We stayed in La Fuente Hotel. It's just off the ring road and on the road towards Arteaga, Matehuala and San Luis Potosi. When you turn off the ring road you need to get into the right lane immediately, you need Exit 2 which is almost right away. Then carry on along the lateral a few blocks, the hotel is on the right. You will need to park in front of the hotel and walk in to have someone open the gate to the big fenced vacant lot alongside the hotel. No services, though internet is available in the office

You can see our trip south from Larado and approach details on our blog
  • That is the same one we have used the past couple of years. I was really hoping to not go that far. But that's the way it goes sometimes.
  • This is probably the same one werwin sent - a Pemex in the middle of the highway - big - south of Saltillo - not a huge amount of parking but we stayed there once and it was fine - if you have Streets and Trips it will show as a wide split in the highway - island in the middle..... 24.49587° -100.29513°
  • I didn't find a good place in Saltillo. I use, a Parador/PEMEX5208 on the Junction Mex40 Saltillo - 57D (Steet View 25.59428,-100.880757) or from Saltillo, about 80 mi, south on the 57D, Parador/PEMEX7537 (Street View 24.495301,-100.295715)
