Where to camp to take in Bay of Fundy and Halifax NS

We stayed a Fundy NP. If you like to bike it is a nice downhill ride from the CG into town. Also not to miss is Cape Brenton NP which is really nice. If you drive through the park there is a private CG in Meat Cove where they would drag whales up on land to cut up the equipment is still there. The CG is high up on a bluff and you can watch Minke whales just of shore.

..the prime CGs around Peggys Cove book early...our CGs are smaller and our season is shorter..some have length restrictions.. "seasonals" are becoming an in thing here with the price of fuel.

Veebyes, don't forget the Madeleine islands ... an interesting place to go like st pierre & miquelon off of NFLD.

I am in the process of planning a MD to NL trip. 113 days door to door long.

This will be our 3rd trip to the NB & NS area. Previous trips have been in the fall. This will be spring into summer.

There are plenty of CGs to choose from. Use the Allstays website or RV Park Reviews website. Only 2 CGs close to Halifax. One of them quite small. There is a CG close to Peggys Cove. Be sure to be at Peggys cove near the lighthouse for the sunset. Hopefully the weather is good.

Plenty to see & do between NB & NS. A day trip around the Cabot Trail is a must do. There is PEI as well if you have time. For us the prime destination is NL. Planning on spending all of June there, prime iceberg watching month.

Yes...break it up into 2 sections.

If you stay in the valley, Halifax is less than an hours drive. You can also go cross country to Peggy's Cove. Don't be deceived by the map..make sure you get one to scale.

Funny, we run the other way..to Gananoque..

BTW, the main hwy in NB (around Moncton to Sackville) is kinds rough...

So hang out at Fundy National park for 3-4 days , drive over to Hopewell Rocks, then maybe go over to Blomidon for a couple days then head towards Halifax and camp around there somewhere.

Fundy NP is good for experiencing the tides, but IMO the best place for that is at Hopewell Rocks. We stayed a night at the Ponderosa Pines Campground for our visit to Hopewell Rocks.

On the Nova Scotia side of the Bay of Fundy we stayed at Blomidon Provincial park. At low tide you can walk way out on the sandy ocean floor. Streets & Trips calculates 1-1/2 hours from there to Halifax.

Fundy is a great park. And, it's an easy walk to town, Alma NB. Coming back to the CG is all uphill.
However, it's a lot more than an hour to Halifax.

Definitely stay at Fundy. If you were smaller you'd be able to stay out at Pt. Wolfe, but I think you might be too big (definitely look into it though). Headquarters campground is fully developed but you can walk to town if you don't mind walking uphill on the way back. The bakery there makes fantastic peanut butter cookies, sticky buns and raisin bread. It is a MUST DO.
