Just so you know...people live and work and travel thru-out the north, all year round. This includes gas stations. Yes, there will be fewer as October closes in, but all is good. On the Alcan, The Junction, Dease Lake, Stewart all have fuel available. Dumping is available in Terrace and Smithers (CDN Tires stores).
You are going to be in the best time of year for your drive. Once a frost hits, the bugs are gone and the colours will be fabulous. There will be fewer touristy things to do, if any. Lucky you, but you will have the trip almost entirely to yourselves. And so what if you get some snow? you live in Seattle and see snow every winter.
