Excellent point, Tothill. We've had to change road trip plans in the past due to weather, forest fires, floods, and a host of other issues. Definitely need to keep things flexible (and I don't intend to make reservations for anything but flights and RV before we leave anyway). I think I'll work on both plans, and the final decision will be made when we get there.
Still, excellent considerations raised here, so I'm glad I asked. It does give me a better picture, about the pros and cons.
