Which gps?

Hi Everyone,

What is a good, reliable and inexpensive GPS for MX and Central America, and where should you get it?
Any special software specific to MX that you'll have to buy as well?
Thanks!

Life is to short to spend more time checking the route (with very uncertain results) than actually driving it.
  • We use a Garmin with a Mexico Streets SD card. You can buy a Garmin anywhere, (Sam's Walmart,Costco,Best Buy etc) but I would order the Mexico Street card directly from Garmin as you know then that you have the most updated version.
  • Well there is something you should consider. Garmin customer support is between 45 minutes and an hour and they speak English. Tom Tom is much faster but very had to understand.
  • If you travel with a laptop or netbook, one way is to buy Microsoft Streets and Trips with the Pharos GPS antenna. This gives you trip routing and GPS. Should be a round $40 for software and GPS antenna.
    I have a Rand McNally 7710.
    Wife has a Garmin.
The 7710 is much better then the Garmin for RV purposes the way we use it.
