US 12 into WA, then north to I-90 to Snoqualmie and Seattle. You would miss Leavenworth, a Bavarian Motif, and the Tumwater Canyon with colorful leaves.
From Seattle south to Rainier, don't forget Mt St Helens, then to Portland.
