I've stayed at the whitehorse walmart. Camping off the road, boondocking, in Yukon is discouraged, and there are signs stating against it across the territory, especially at rest areas. I've never stayed longer than 4-6 hours in rest areas close to town, but near destruction bay, there are several paved pullouts without camping signs that seem to be fair game for an overnight stay. The far side of the lake is pretty desolate, and beautiful. I spent a night there in September and woke up to 2" of snow and 20F. Low mark had hit 0F that night. Glad to have an Arctic Fox....
