In terms of the Ontario provincial parks, a lot of effort is put into getting the water systems ready for the season, the techs at Culligan are generally unavailable in early May in the Toronto area as they are on the road servicing the parks water system. Those parks that aren't on city water have the water tested at least weekly as well.
As for the comment about some bottled water coming out of city water, it's true, but having toured a Coca Cola facility (Disani bottled water is produced there as well)the water treatment is impressive, all impurities and chlorine is stripped out prior to preparing the water for bottling (or before being made into Coca Cola). No worries about drinking that stuff (except for the calories in Coke!):).
