Ours works beautifully. We plug it in to the laptop, the Telcel software opens up and off we go. The internet doesn't discriminate between sticks or cell phones, it's looking for a paid signal from a chip.
In small towns or markets, always ask and you might be surprised. That's how we found our Telcel stick in San Miguel de Allende. The owner didn't have it on display but tucked away under the counter thinking no one would be interested.
