Wildfire closes Alaska Hwy south of Fort Nelson BC - July 8

We were one of the last group of vehicles allowed to continue on the highway past Fort Nelson. We encountered smoke just north of Whitehorse and it progressively got worse as we headed south. Currently in Dawson Creek and the smoke is not bad here. Rain is expected tonight in Fort Nelson and the authorities are hoping it will help with the fires and opening of the road.
