Wisconsin to Florida

We're currently in Michigan Upper Peninsula. We've been in St. Ignace sightseeing Mackinac Island, Mackimaw City! The T-Falls as well Ontario. We want to return to Florida but would like to travel through Wisconsin. We want to avoid Chicago, and steep mountains as we meander our way back. Please give us some suggestions on nice scenic routes in Wisconsin, Illinois and other states as we continue our trip.
  • The route we usually take from Northern IL: I-39 (you can pick it up North of Madison, WI) South to I-55, jog to I-74, to I-57, to I-24, to I-75.

  • We enjoyed the upper dells boat tour at the Wisconsin Dells. Devils Lake state park is also very scenic and has some great hiking. We did the M28 to 45 down to Eagle River, WI. Beautiful drive.
  • I 39 is perfect for avoiding Chicago, but there are a couple of tolls, just so you know. There is a campground in Marion il right off of 57 and a great barbecue place called 17th st, owned by a championship barbecuer.
