WV I-77 toll road

I have two questions I hope someone can answer with local knowledge.

The West Virginia Turnpike says it has three tolls in its length and they will hit me up for 2.50$ at each. (Is this correct?)
That makes 7.50$us to be abused for about 60 miles.
Is this worth doing if we are in no hurry?

Are the by roads that by-pass so terrible that it is a consideration?

This is not intended to offend any residents of WV, but it is an honest question.

    The Mountains you are going thru make it the best route available. I remember when I was 7 going to Washington DC on my first camping trip. Pulling our homemade 3rd owner fold out thru the mountains with our 1958 Biscayne w/ it's mighty 6 cylinder engine, one curve my brother & I were on top of my sister and the next curve my sister and I were on top of my brother.

    The $7.50 is correct. The roadway is not bad. Just obey the speed limit and you will be through the toll booth before you know it. I pay over $35.00 in tolls going from Charleston WV to Pulaski NY with my fiver. The $7.50 for the WV Turnpike is a real deal.

    If you are going to parts North via I-79, you can skip the last section of the turnpike. That eliminates one toll booth. Just be careful to follow the speed limit along US 19. It is a 4-lane with some stop lights but will save you some time and $2.50.

    Also, EZ Pass accepted and saves some time.

    A good roadside rest point is the New River Gorge Bridge Visitor's Center. Stop and enjoy the view.

    Extreme right-hand toll booth lanes are a little wider than the others. I bumped my mirror on my old class A on the center one."

    A heart felt thanks to all those that provided valuable information.

    We will route the Thruway (and have cash available) and make the stops recommended. We usually avoid toll roads because the scenery is so much better from the old roads and we are now seldom in any hurry.

    If you are not in a hurry, want to see beautiful scenery and object to $7.50...go right ahead and try to by-pass it. (I wouldn't even think about it towing something) The next trip you will be willing to pay $10.
