- othertonkaExplorerIt depends on time of year. Right now 120 over Tiuga pass is closed due to snow. No estimate of date that it will open, but usually end of may or first of June.
- teeznuExplorerThank you to the first 2 posters.
I look at shortest distance vs. longest distance with regard to fuel mileage. Secondly, I look/ask about road conditions, steep-long hill climbs as that degrades fuel mpg, but,,,,once up the mountain, the coast down typically balances the over all outcome.
Thank you in advance for educating me on this route option. - coolbreeze01ExplorerMost roads in California are pretty good. Use low gears and your exhaust/engine brake as needed. If you don't have either, stay in the valley. Have a good time.
- lanerdExplorer IIYes, it's mountainous, curvy, and in places steep.....but....very doable in your mh.
I highly recommend eating at Whoa Nellie's Deli right at the turn off to 120 from Hwy 395 (south of Lee Vining). Great little place to eat wonderful fish tacos.
Ron - korbeExplorerYes. It is a beautiful mountainous road. Nice big steep climb out of Lee Vining up and over to the upper Yosemite. You can then come down into Yosemite valley and enjoy some more beautiful scenery. If you want to stay away from mountains, then you need to go around - way around.
