2gypsies, the problem with mosquitoes is that we do a lot of hiking in woods and brushy places and near streams -- and I have some sort of special blood that they just love. They don't like my wife's blood, for some reason. So when possible, we try to plan our travels so as to minimize the issue -- not to avoid it completely.
Plus we like cold weather and fall color, and I am hoping to see the Northern Lights. During the summer months, the nights in the north are short and not very dark. September would be a better time for us, all around.
