zion tunnel closed

We drove 14 this spring in the toad. It was a beautiful drive, but i wouldn't want to drive the MH or tow over it. We did take 20 with the MH later and it's much more reasonable. 14 is a scenic drive and well worth the time, but once you've put the rig on a site!

We have always used 20, and that would be my recommendation. Have never used 14 so I do not have anything to report except that my research in planning caused me to think 20 was the better route.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I used 14 about 13 years ago and as I recall it has double digit grades. I remember thinking I was glad I was going up and not heading down. Last time I went to Bryce I used 20. Too bad the tunnel is not available, interesting experience. I've been through it three times. Can't say I was ever really comfortable while in the tunnel.

We went thru jacob lake on way here it looks very nice but time just doesn't allow this time.we have a lot we want to see in very little time.

If you've got some extra time, take 67 at Jacob Lake and go to the North Rim of the GC. It's quite a bit different than the South Rim. A lot more forest and a whole lot fewer people. Very quiet campground.

Thanks everyone. We just wasn't sure what hyw14 was like for pulling TT. When we leave here Friday we were going to drive hyw 9 east then up to Bryce. Lauren we will take your suggestion and use 20. We came to Zion from south rim of Grand Canyon using 64 east to 89 then to 89a thru Jacob lake then 389 to 59 to 9 to Springdale and it was beautiful drive! Even thru all the blinding rain at times. We took 14 with the X and a 34 ft TT and loved the ride and the scenery

Not sure what you are asking......longer than what? If the road it closed and you want to get there then the comparison is not an option. I will be glad to help if you can be specific.
