I very seldom use commercial campgrounds but never have had a problem either way. One of the last ones I stayed at I had to call. They didn't take a credit card over phone just "call if your plans change." I have pending reservations with some local extra tickets for later this summer. Had to call and leave a card number and I asked how much they would charge my card. "Nothing unless you no show, but cancel 48 hours in advance please."
I rather do online but I understand the difficulties and cost of the online security for the small business.
