Down here it is impossible to micro-plan. Stop driving as close to sundown as possible. I never EVER drive at night in Mexico. Oops they forgot to mark an open trench.
On the autopista between the coast and Morelia the army decided to erect a check point -after sunset-. Pitch Black. Multiple Humvees and a 6x6.
I damned near hit one soldier standing in the lane waving a flashlight.
I patiently explained to the sergeant that the custom he never heard of was to stuff rags in a 5 gallon bucket and light them. That was the very last excursion after sunset for me. The end.
If I am nowhere near an RV park, I'll park behind a gasolinera. Between Tepic and Tecoman there are no RV Parks. A person has to use their noggin.
