Looks like a whole lot of fun to me.
I was fortunate enough to go on a vaguely similar trip with my mom one year when growing up, albeit with a car and tent. Yes, there was a lot of time spent sitting in the car going from one place to another...but it was a fabulous time none the less, and something I have fond memories of.
(There are some here who appear to believe that one should never visit Rhode Island unless one can spend at least five weeks to see things properly. I'd take their comments with a grain or two of salt. It is nice to have all the time in the world, but if you don't, it's still nice to spend what time one does have to see what one can.)
