1st time snowbird

This will be our first winter as snowbirds and we are looking forward to getting out of the cold and into the warmth. Spending 3 months in the Florida Keys should help. Any suggestions on special things we need to know would be appreciated.
  • Enjoy your first winter south!!!!

Red Green: When the going gets tough, switch to power tools.
  • if you aren't hung up on the keys there are a few nice places in Homestead and Naples for less $$$. Maybe do a week or 2 in the keys? unless $$$ aren't an issue then go and enjoy all the keys has to offer. A site will run you ~$2000 to $2500/mo. If you go looking for a 'luxury' park you can spend $4,000 for one month.
  • Thanks Texan, Yes we already know we will need lots of $$. We already have a spot in Long Key for the 3 months. Hubby is going to be the Square Dance caller for the Long Key Squares at the resort so we will have a little spending $$ coming in. We have been saving for this trip and are really getting excited about not being cold all winter.
  • Your choices of RV parks are very limited in the Keys, so do your research now and figure where in the Keys you prefer. The main thing you need to know is bring LOTS of money. Oh, and did I mention, it is very expensive in the Keys, so bring lots of money. :)

The absolute Premier RV Park in the Keys is Blue Water Key RV Resort at MM 14½. The MM starts in Key West with 0 and works north on US-1. That will give you an idea of distance from KW.
  • The FL-Keys are wonderful, beautiful, and warm. We spent many winters down there. Enjoy and take lots of $ :)
