Great thread! Late March this year we headed for Arizona to take in a Mariner's spring training game and decided to go thru Utah to see Moab area and Monument Valley. Weather was decent and the area was busy but no traffic jams yet. Being 71 with new knees, we don't hike much, so just took in the area from the roads, except for the short hikes. We stayed at the KOA south of town and found it met our needs, as we only stayed two days. Loved it though. Actually liked monument valley better, so iconic and no crowds. Don't remember who won the game but we played the Dodgers and got to see Kershaw pitch.
Also took in Canyonlands and Goosenecks St. Park, liked those better than Arches. The most fun I had was driving up and down that highway (came down from I-70 to Goosenecks area) that had a real steep switchback dirt road up a mesa on which trailers are not recommended. Views were spectacular and road real narrow, loved it.
