A Snowbird Packing Challenge

Well we are at departure date minus 5. We have quite a challenge on our hands. We are taking our pickup truck from Illinois to Arizona, there getting our new to us completely empty fiver, and on to the RV park.

So we have the back seat of the crew cab, and the 6'7" bed of the truck, not counting the hitch. I made a nifty 2 piece plywood bed cover to keep our stuff secure on the overnight stops. So with that, we can't heap stuff up like the Beverly Hillbillies. But heck, a truck bed and back seat is plenty of room, right?

Ha. Not when there is a hitch in the bed, and you are taking camp stuff, RV stuff, clothes, electronics, golf clubs, etc. No food, no consumable supplies. Today DW and I had the you're taking too much stuff "discussion". Yeah, that's never a good one. And since a lot of what we are doing this time is my bright idea, and I promised her a winter of snowbird park fun, I need to make sure she gets to bring what she needs.

I know, I know, there are stores in Arizona. But, but... we already have the stuff. We learned how to travel light in our small Class C. But stuffing most of the same things into a pickup is another level of traveling light.

Tonight we have decided: fewer bins, more bags. Yeah, that's the ticket!
