Glens Falls is not particularly on your way to Boston.
In my humble opinion, the Albany/Troy area only offers rather limited sightseeing opportunities. There are a few museums and theaters that may or may not have shows you're interested in, but not a vast amount else. I'm sure others would disagree, and that's certainly their right; but my impression has largely been lots of highway interchanges and the empire state plaza in all its brutalist glory (in stark contrast to the actual capitol building).
Glens Falls and the Lake George area have many things to see and do. There's plenty of touristy stuff (including a comparatively small 6 flags park), shopping, some natural areas. Saratoga Springs has a long history with horse racing (and a museum and hall of fame) and a decent if smallish auto museum. There are various historical buildings and areas throughout. The Lake George RV Park gets very good reviews and recommendations; I haven't stayed there myself.
I would suggest instead, or in addition, a stop at one of the very pretty state parks in the Finger Lakes region, such as Watkin's Glen or Letchworth. Letchworth state park exceeded my expectations; it's a stunning area.
