Albuquerque Balloon questions about vendors

Hubby and I are artisans and have thought about Albuquerque Baloon Fest as an event to sell our work.

I have some questions for those who have been there.
1. Lots of people?
2. Where are artists located as opposed to Balloon launch
3. Are there lots of people shopping/looking?
4. Do people pay to get into this part of festival?
5. Do you go look at the artist section?
6. Is quality very good or flea like?

Penman, thank you....the all kinds of stuff scares me. That entry fee is serving only to make whomever is promoting it very wealthy! The hours are also not something I would want to do.

I am doing the Thanksgiving event this year by the same promoter.
Hope it is good. I thought this one by Rio Grande was pricey...not what I usually pay but worth a try and a deduction for the trip out and back while we visit son in Nevada and see the wild west :B

There are a few shows held at the fairgrounds in the fall. In my opinion, the Rio Grande show is probably the best. Hope you enjoy the show and your visit to the wild west.
  • Thanks everyone...off to a show this weekend in NY and sunday night after show we begin to make our way to the wild west from NY.

  • Hi Donna. The show on the event grounds is not juried and has all kinds of things. The hours are crazy (like open at 5am close at noon, reopen at 4pm and close at 8pm) but they see a lot of people. It is very expensive to enter (to sell, like $2000 to $3000 if I remember correctly) and I don't know anyone who has actually made money which is why I decided not to do it. The other show is not on the event grounds but is close by. Most people do not stay on the grounds all day but go looking for something to do. I have not done the juried show but I have been to it and the quality is very good. It is the Rio Grande Arts and Crafts Festival and is located on I-25 at Paseo Del Norte. You need to apply almost a year in advance and it is still hard to get in. Hope this helps. BTW, both shows are in large tents.
  • Penman....it is the juried show that I would do...so you are telling me that there are two events...is the non juried one lots of low quality things? I think the one I am interested in is in a large tent so that one is further away?

  • There is also a juried (sp?) arts and crafts show that is located near the fiesta area but not on the property. It stays pretty busy and the quality is excellent. I have thought about selling on the launch site but the cost is just too high. I have talked with others who have done it before and no one I talked with actually made any money except food vendors.
  • 1: hundreds of thousands through the gates over the 2 weeks.
2: Vendors at the launch field
3:Vendor tents are jammed packed early around launch time & for evening events
4: You pay, you pay, you pay
5: Personally, no. Already have more than enough knick knacks to clean around the house.
6: Mixed bag. Some of both.
  • I can answer two for you as we live in NM but have never gone to the Fiesta. Yes there are lots of people there and I do believe there is an entrance and parking fee.
