Albuquerque Rv campground?

Looking to make a trip to Albuquerque mid-December, is there a campground you would recommend? Would like it to be rural with stuff to see close by.
  • American RV is about as good as it gets we stayed there again a few months ago.

Route 66 RV resort is a overrated parking lot way west of the city, its 11 miles west of American and 18 miles west of Old Town
  • We've had good stays at the KOA too, but I wouldn't call it rural. It's actually in a sketchy neighborhood, but it's convenient if you want to see Albuquerque. It's on the east end of town though, and very close to good wildernesses, parks, and funky little Madrid. Lots to see.
  • It's been several years since we've visited, but we stayed at the Albuquerque KOA Journey and like it. My mother in law lived close by and this was central to many of the places she took us.
