My experience from living in a high desert is that the lower humidity makes cooler temps much more comfortable than you might expect. I go to the Oregon coast in the winter and, even though the thermometer says it is warmer, it feels much colder.
So why don't you give it a try and see what happens?
If it is too cold you can always move further south.
