I took two different photo tours of the Upper Antelope Canyon & a self guided tour of the Lower Antelope Canyon in 2012. The guided tours were with Carol Bigthumb's Adventurous Antelope Canyon. I was very pleased with both guides. You must carry a DSLR or SLR camera to take an unguided tour of the Lower Canyon.
At the guide's suggestions, an early morning trip through the Lower Canyon, followed by a noon trip through the Upper Canyon provides the best opportunities for photos. I have some notes at the first link that may be helpful if you plan to take pictures.
